Should the incoming board hire a property management company?
The incoming Board should definitely hire a property management company. It faces an interesting dilemma, however. Oftentimes, there’s already a property management company there that was brought in by the builder. Some of those property management companies have an affiliation with the builder, and should be replaced, so that the Association can have objective representation.
Oftentimes, however, the management company that’s been brought in by the builder, understands that their primary obligation is to the homeowners. Where the Board senses that, in fact, the management company is on their side, there’s no reason why they can’t continue to use that company.
